DIRECTOR

Derek and his wife Jessica moved to Moscow in 2009 to restart the Chi Alpha ministry at the University of Idaho. Derek has been involved in Chi Alpha ministry for more than 20 years now! Derek holds a degree in music education from Central Washington University, but God rerouted his future after experiencing newfound spiritual growth during his own college years. When not leading the team, Derek enjoys working on his lawn, gardening, nerding-out about space exploration, laughing and playing with his three kids.

DIRECTOR

Jessica felt a call from the Lord to ministry as a child, but would have never guessed that her mission field would be small-town Idaho! Jessica has co-directed the ministry since 2009 and is the program director for UIXA's CMIT (Campus Missionary In-Training) Program, which prepares young adults for a career in campus ministry. Jessica is passionate about Jesus and especially enjoys preaching and mentoring. Jessica is a mother of three and loves iced espresso, reading suspenseful fiction, and dinner parties on the patio.

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Corinne started in Chi Alpha as a student at Central Washington University, and after her CMIT with them, joined the team at U of I! She is passionate about helping all students learn about God's truth for all areas of their lives, and to help them find freedom so that they can be sent into the world unencumbered and able to bring God's Kingdom wherever they are. Her other passion is her family, her husband who works at the University and her two kids!

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Jeremy is a proud graduate of the University of Idaho! He graduated with a degree in Secondary Education. During college, he got connected to Chi Alpha. He quickly fell in love with this community and its focus to help college students follow Jesus. Jeremy’s greatest joy as a campus pastor is watching students decide to lean into Jesus through the highs and lows of college. In his free time, Jeremy likes reading, playing games, hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with his wife!

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Isaac Young graduated from Central Washington University (BFA Graphic Design) in 2017 and has been serving with Chi Alpha ever since! He is married to Sarah Young and they have a son. Isaac grew up in church, but found his faith expanded during his time in XA as a student, and loves helping students see themselves in God’s mission to save the world! He enjoys science fiction/fantasy, loves hanging out with friends, and spending time in the outdoors when he can!

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Sarah started her Chi Alpha experience as a student at Western Washington University and graduated with a degree in Creative Writing and a minor in Religious Studies. While serving on the XA staff team at the University of Oregon, Sarah met her husband Isaac, and eventually moved to join the team in Moscow. Sarah is passionate about helping students better understand Jesus and loves exploring the Biblical context that brings Scripture to life. When she’s not on campus, you can find her spending quality time with friends and family (including her little one), enjoying a good story, and spending time outdoors.

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Sara is an alumni of the U of I, graduating with a degree in Psychology in 2020. After getting involved with Chi Alpha as a student, campus ministry very quickly captured her heart. She loves getting to have deep conversations with students about faith and getting to watch them grow closer to and fall more in love with Jesus. Coffee, baked goods, and spending quality time with friends will always make her day a little brighter.

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Christina graduated from the University of Idaho in 2018 with a B.A. in Sociology. She has been a part of Chi Alpha at the U of I since 2016, first as a student, then as an intern for two years, and now as a staff member! She loves to connect with students and help them find a deeper love for Jesus through discipleship, worship, and community. She is also passionate about her family: her husband, Andrew, and her son, Ezra!

ASSOCIATE STAFF

Caden loves people and studying the truth of our past which inspired him to pursue a degree in history education at Central Washington University. There, God introduced him to the Chi Alpha community and soon after surrendered his life to Jesus. Graduating in 2022, he completed two years of the CMIT and now has joined the U of I team! He loves competitive and cooperative sports and boardgames, being adventurous in the outdoors, and having meaningful conversations about life and Jesus.
